Sage Thornwick
LAST OF THE MOUNTAIN SAGES
Sage Thornwick is a hermit who lives at the summit of Frostwynd Mountain. He knows the old magic of frost enchantment.
"Greetings, traveler. I am Thornwick, last of the Mountain Sages."
High above the clouds, at the summit of Frostwynd Mountain, an ancient hermit lives alone in a small stone hut. Few travellers make the climb.
Those who do say his beard is as white as the snow, and that he knows magic older than the village itself.
Make the climb and the hermit comes out to meet you, studying you as if he can already see the road ahead. He senses dark forces stirring in the depths below: creatures of shadow, and worse.
He offers to teach your blade an old magic, the frost enchantment, so that it strikes with winter's fury. In return he asks for three ice crystals from the Frozen Cave, north of the Mountain Path, where three great pillars of ice guard them.
"Ice slows your enemies. Cold steel bites deeper. Very effective against... certain threats."
